DEVELOPMENT NEWS 60 • SHOPPING CENTER BUSINESS • May 2017 ATLANTA, GEORGIA JOINT VENTURE TO BREAK GROUND ON STUDIOPLEX ON AUBURN PROJECT ALONG ATLANTA BELTLINE A joint venture between Columbia Ven- tures LLC and Studioplex LLC has broken ground on the next phase of Studioplex on Auburn, a mixed-use development in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward district. Front- ing the Atlanta BeltLine near Krog Street Market, the 31,000-square-foot, $26 mil- lion project will feature 19 townhomes atop retail space. Retailers signed forStu- dioplex on Auburn include Dancing Dogs Yoga, Beetnix Juice Bar, 18.21 Bitters and Hawkers Asian Street Fare. The joint ven- ture opened a parking deck at the project in January and plan to add a new connec- tion to the BeltLine, a 22-mile loop that will ultimately connect 45 intown neigh- borhoods through multi-use trails, parks and streetcars. HINESVILLE, GEORGIA HUTTON COMPLETES OGLETHORPE SQUARE Hutton Contracting Co. has completed construction of Oglethorpe Square, a 158,000-square-foot shopping center lo- cated in Hinesville, a city about 40 miles southwest of Savannah. Dick's Sport- ing Goods, TJMaxx and PetSmart are among the anchors of the 24-acre prop- erty. Oglethorpe Square is also home to several chain restaurants, including Longhorn Steakhouse, Panda Express and Chick-fil-A. GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA RENOVATIONS UNDERWAY ON REGAL CINEMA AT BUTLER TOWN CENTER IN GAINESVILLE Construction is underway on renovations to the 14-screen Regal Cinema located at Butler Town Center in Gainesville. The redevelopment will include the addition of luxury recliners with padded footrests; new lighting, flooring and drapery; and re- vitalizations to the façade. The cinema will remain open throughout renovations, with the project expected for comple- tion in June. SEATTLE, WASHINGTON MADISON MARQUETTE TO REDEVELOP PACIFIC PLACE IN DOWNTOWN SEATTLE Madison Marquette is set to begin the redevelopment of Pacific Place, a 339,000-square-foot retail center located in downtown Seattle. Barney's New York and Tiffany & Co. anchor the four-story center, which is also home to tenants in- cluding AMC Theatres, Barnes & Noble, Kate Spade New York, Lululemon athleti- ca and Victoria's Secret. The multi-million dollar renovation — designed by architec- ture firm Gensler — will include remod- eling the center's common areas and the addition of a new entrance, and new shopping and dining space. The project is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2017, with the first phase opening in fall 2018.
