DEVELOPMENT NEWS 38 • SHOPPING CENTER BUSINESS • December 2017 MIAMI, FLORIDA THOR EQUITIES BREAKS GROUND ON 63,000-SQUARE-FOOT RETAIL, RESTAURANT DEVELOPMENT Thor Equities has broken ground on Wynwood Walk, a 63,000-square-foot restaurant and retail development located in Miami's Wynwood Art District. Upon completion, the project, designed by Oppenheim Architecture, will feature new retail and restaurants, a green rooftop, paseo and a landscaped terrace with outdoor seating. Construction will be complete in November 2018. ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA UNITED DEVELOPMENT TO DELIVER 33,517-SQUARE-FOOT RETAIL CENTER United Development Co. has unveiled plans to build The Peaks, a 33,517-square- foot retail center in Asheville. The property will sit on 2 acres at the site of the former UA Beaucatcher Cinemas 7. The Peaks will offer 12 restaurant and retail spaces, including Chipotle Mexican Grill, Panera Bread and Rise Biscuits & Donuts. In addition, the property will feature a pedestrian-oriented design and outdoor dining with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. PFA Architects designed the center, and Atlantic Retail Properties is handling the leasing assignment. The Peaks will open in June 2018.
