NEW YORK CITY 50 • SHOPPING CENTER BUSINESS • December 2017 Hudson Yards and Manhattan West are transforming Manhattan's West Side, Brookfield Place continues to activate downtown Manhattan and large projects like Tangram and Industry City are mak- ing waves in the Flushing neighborhood of Queens and Sunset Park in Brooklyn. In downtown Manhattan, Brookfield Place, a 277,000-square-foot hub for luxury shopping and dining developed by Brookfield Properties, been open for a few years. "Brookfield Place, one of our large and well-known retail projects, has seen great success," says Michael Goldban, senior vice president for retail leasing at Brookfield Office Properties. "We're really pleased with how the proj- ect is doing in what we think everyone considers a challenging market. We think our collection has really spoken to the neighborhood and to New Yorkers, as well as tourists." The property is home to Hudson Eats, an upscale dining terrace featuring concepts from chef-driven eateries, and tenants including Saks Fifth Avenue and Saks Fifth Avenue Men's Store, Burb- erry, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Lululemon and Salvatore Ferragmo. Adjacent to the property is Westfield World Trade Center, anchored by Eataly and a number of retailers. The project, showcased by its Oculus designed by San- tiago Calatrava, attracts tourists and locals using the transportation hub. North of Brookfield Place, Brookfield Properties is also developing Manhattan Hudson Yards, located on Manhattan's West Side, will compliment retail, residential and office space with 14 acres of gardens, plazas, playgrounds and public squares and three parks.
