DEVELOPMENT NEWS 38 • SHOPPING CENTER BUSINESS • September 2018 SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA SAFEWAY TO ANCHOR 100,000-SQUARE- FOOT SHOPPING CENTER IN SAN JOSE Safeway will anchor a 100,000-square- foot retail center in the North Village of Market Park San Jose, a mixed-use project under development in San Jose. The transit-oriented development is located adjacent to the soon-to-open Berryessa BART station. At full build- out, Market Park will include 4,000 residential units, 1.5 million square feet of office space, retail space, a park and walking/bicycle paths. In addition to the 65,000-square-foot Safeway, the North Village's Market Place shopping center will house a drugstore, restau- rants and service-oriented businesses. Borelli Investment Co. is handling the project development and man- agement, and The Schoennauer Co. is handling permitting. SRS Real Estate is handling the development's leasing assignment. The project team expects to break ground on the shopping cen- ter in the fall of 2019, and the Safeway store is slated to open in 2020. DELAWARE COUNTY, OHIO BLUE HORSESHOE UNVEILS PLANS FOR $10 MILLION E-SPORTS STADIUM AT PLANET OASIS PROJECT IN OHIO Blue Horseshoe Ventures has unveiled plans to build a $10 million stadium dedicated to e-sports at its Planet Oa- sis project in Delaware County. The 30,000-square-foot, multi-level arena will be designed to host every form of competitive gaming and will feature a competition stage; 50-foot LED video wall; VIP lounges; a broadcast center and production studio; e-sports exhi- bition show matches; and a vintage video game cocktail bar. The new fa- cility will be one element of the $2 bil- lion Planet Oasis project, which Blue Horseshoe first announced in July. At full build-out, Planet Oasis will span 350 acres and will feature attractions such as indoor skydiving, electric go-karts, virtual golf, bowling, laser tag, at least 15 hotels, more than 75 restaurants, a health and wellness re- sort and a conference center. LOUGHMAN, FLORIDA HALVORSEN HOLDINGS TO DEVELOP $23 MILLION PUBLIX-ANCHORED RETAIL CENTER IN CENTRAL FLORIDA Halvorsen Holdings has unveiled plans to develop Loughman Cross- ing, a 78,200-square-foot retail cen- ter that will be located in Loughman, a city 30 miles south of Orlando. Publix will anchor the $23 million development, which is approximately 40 percent preleased. Committed ten- ants at Loughman Crossing include pending deals with a national ham- burger restaurant chain, a national dental service provider and a nation- al gas/convenience store operator. Three of the six outparcels around the perimeter of the site are available for sale or ground lease. Loughman Crossing is located 16 miles from Walt Disney World.
