"We started Vitality Bowls in a small location in San Ramon, California, after our daughter was born with severe food allergies," says Tara Gilad. "Our secret mission in life is to bring allergy safe food to kids across America. It's really hard for us to eat out at any restaurant because her allergies are so se- vere. Most restaurants aren't allergy safe, and don't cater to those with allergies. We wanted to create a healthy environment for her with a kitchen that was allergy safe without cross contamination." Having no previous experience in the restaurant industry, the couple went to the drawing board to fgure out ideas for offerings. With a focus on healthy eating and superfoods, the couple soon land- ed on the açai berry. "The açai berry is the Number 1 superfood on the planet," says Gilad. "Our concentration is on açai bowls with top quality ingredients — we will not compromise on quality." Alongside the restaurant's signature açai bowls, customers can purchase smoothies, fresh juices, soups, salads and panini sandwiches. "We wanted to focus on many different offerings as well," says Gilad. "Some of our competitors just do juicing, or smoothies — we wanted to make sure that we have items that ap- peal to each customer that walks in. We also make sure every item has nutritional content. We pair our ingredients to make every item that we create a nutritional powerhouse." After the couple opened their frst restaurant, the company took off. "Our community embraced us, and it grew like wild fre," says Gilad. "We opened our second store fve months later, and our One of Vitality Bowl's signature offerings is an açai bowl, packed with a powerful mix of superfoods. Allergy Safe Haven Vitality Bowls offers healthy food in an allergy sensitive environment.
