LAKE NONA 80 • SHOPPING CENTER BUSINESS • December 2017 W hile the recent ICSC Florida Conference & Deal Mak- ing event in Orlando had plenty of highlights, one project gen- erated a significant amount of buzz: Orlando's Lake Nona Town Center. The centerpiece of the remarkable 11,000-acre, 17-square-mile, mas- ter-planned mixed-use Lake Nona community, Lake Nona Town Center is expected to be a market-defining, 3.8-million-square foot hub of retail, hospitality, dining and entertainment. The first phase of the 100-acre Lake Nona Town Center opened in January 2016 and includes an 85,000-square-foot office building, a dual-branded Court- yard by Marriott and Residence Inn by Marriott hotel and 16,000 square feet of fully leased retail and restaurant space. A multi-level parking structure integrates two striking visual and interactive commu- nity arts landmarks: The six-story Beacon and the Code Wall are pieces of public art that are a draw to the open-air mixed-use community. Lake Nona's developer, Orlando-based Tavistock Development Company, to- gether with its retail planning, leasing and development services partner, Columbus, Ohio-based Steiner + Associates, recently unveiled plans for a new full-service hotel anchor: the iconic 16-story Town Center hotel. Designed by renowned architecture firm Arquitectonica, the 215-room Town Center hotel will include a rooftop pool and lounge, a first-to-market restaurant, 200-person ballroom and several confer- ence and meeting rooms. Hotel guests will also have access to Lake Nona's fiber network, providing internet at speeds ap- proximately 200 times faster than the av- erage. The team anticipates construction will begin on the hotel in early 2018. In addition to the Town Center ho- Raising The Bar Infused with technology, Orlando's Lake Nona Town Center is welcoming a stylish new hotel anchor as well as office, residential and experiential restaurant and retail.
