DEVELOPMENT NEWS 32 • SHOPPING CENTER BUSINESS • August 2016 MAITLAND, FLORIDA ALLEN MORRIS BREAKS GROUND ON $68 MILLION MIXED-USE PROJECT The Allen Morris Co. has begun con- struction on Maitland City Centre, a $68 million mixed-use development in Mait- land, roughly 10 miles north of Orlando. Upon completion in 2018, the project will feature 220 residential units and 35,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space set within a six-story building that will occupy three city blocks near City Hall. Announced tenants at Maitland City Cen- tre include Starbucks Coffee, Subway, Re- naissance Med Spa, Nava Pets, an artisan food hall/market, Mesa 21, Doc B's Fresh Kitchen and a concept from chef Clayton Miller of Dove-Cote in Orlando. SunTrust Bank and TD Bank are financing the de- velopment on behalf of a joint venture partnership between Allen Morris, Lamm & Co. Partners and Millenia Partners. CHICAGO, ILLINOIS NOVAK CONSTRUCTION COMPLETES WHOLE FOODS MARKET IN HYDE PARK Novak Construction has finished work on a 30,000-square-foot Whole Foods Mar- ket at the City Hyde Park development. The store, located at 5118 S. Lake Park Ave., features a secret society theme and pays homage to the University of Chicago. The store features a dark blue and brass color scheme and other décor related to the university. The project also included installing a mechanical system and an un- derground parking garage. Jeanne Gang designed the City Hyde Park project. NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, IP2 ENTERTAINMENT TO DEVELOP BRANDED FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT CENTERS North Hollywood, California-based iP2 Entertainment has partnered with Na- tional Geographic Partners LLC, a joint venture between National Geographic Society and 21st Century Fox, to develop a series of indoor, interactive exploration centers worldwide. Each National Geo- graphic-branded family entertainment center will offer themed attractions, in- teractive demonstrations and hands-on workshops. Content will be geared to- ward families with school-aged children, ages five to 12-years-old. The partnership has teamed with K11 to develop its first lo- cation in Shenyang, China. The branded center will occupy 4,013-square-meters in the Shenyang K11 Art Mall. The location is set to open in summer 2017. A portion of the proceeds from the entertainment centers will support the National Geo- graphic Society.
